"There's nothing you need to apologize for, my sweet little bird," he tells her, hugging her tightly as well. "I'm afraid I'm the one who should be apologizing. I know I'm being difficult, and I'd hate to think that I've made you feel like I don't want be here with you..."
He's quiet for a moment, but then he chuckles, pulling back to kiss her nose. "It's at this time of night that my dearest friend and I often have our worst fights, actually. If he can find me, that is."
